Facebook Page Keeping It Interactive

Just before Christmas we created a Sharrow Vale Market Facebook page which we'd like you to 'like' follow the link or seach 'Sharrow Vale Market' on Facebook.
Here you'll see albums of the latest market, videos of the entertainment, updates on deadlines and possibly some cries for help!

Sharrow Vale Market day – The beginning

Sunday Nov 22nd 2009 - A year and a half after the Sharrow Vale Community Association (SVCA) conceived the idea for a regular market on Sharrow Vale Road, it finally happened. Despite it being a cold blustery November day, up to 2000 people headed down to sample the wares of 40 + market stalls and a whole host of local shops that opened especially. From hog roasts to fresh fish, art and crafts to Peruvian knitwear, the street was a buzz with interested shoppers looking to find an early Christmas bargain or taste some of the local produce that was on offer. If shopping was not enough for passers-by, a local magician dazzled and delighted school children and adults alike while a few got into the Christmas spirit early with a quick jig along to some classic hits.
The reaction from traders and local shopkeepers was extremely positive. One shop said it had had three times the normal amount of custom and stallholders were quick to ask if they could book places at the next market.
Another resident was heard to comment, "Oh, I wish we could have this every week!"
But what was the idea behind it all? At the SVCA we think Sharrow Vale is a great place to be and we want others to see that too. We have fantastic shops, a great location and so much more. Our hope is to bring the community together so that we look after this area and seek to make it an even more enjoyable place to live for everyone.
